Join the Cherry Tree Lane Quilt-Along
Hello friends! This is Jennifer Long from Sew A Story.
There is something special about sewing a quilt that tells a story, and I am so excited to invite you to join us for the Cherry Tree Lane Quilt-Along.
This quilt brings together storytelling, thoughtful piecing, and the joy of sewing step by step alongside a creative community. Inspired by my A Spoonful of Sugar fabric collection, the Cherry Tree Lane quilt captures a charming neighborhood filled with homes, kites, balloons, and sweet everyday moments .

About the Quilt
The Cherry Tree Lane Panel Quilt finishes at approximately 70 1/2″ × 90″, making it a beautiful size for a bed or a cozy space in your home .
At the heart of the quilt is a storybook panel, surrounded by pieced blocks that bring the scene to life. As you sew, you will create:
- House blocks with detailed windows and doors
- Street lamp blocks that frame the quilt
- A balloon block and kite block that add movement and play
- A balanced layout that ties everything together into one complete story
This project is designed for quilters who are comfortable with basic piecing and ready to build confidence with techniques like stitch and flip, half square triangles, and half rectangle triangles.

Quilt-Along Schedule
We will be sewing this quilt together over four weeks, taking it step by step so you can enjoy the process and feel confident as you go.
Here is what to expect:
Week 1 (May 6)
Getting ready and preparation
Week 2 (May 13)
House blocks using HST methods
Week 3 (May 20)
Street lamp, balloon, and kite blocks using HRT methods
Week 4 (May 27)
Assembling the quilt, adding borders, and finishing
Each week builds on the last, helping you stay organized and enjoy steady progress.

Materials and Fabric
This quilt was designed using the A Spoonful of Sugar fabric collection, and it truly brings the entire story together through color and print.
You will need:
- Cherry Tree Lane Quilt Pattern
- Cherry Tree Lane Panel
- Fat Quarter Bundle from the collection
- Additional fabric for background, binding, and backing
Taking time at the beginning to cut, label, and organize your pieces will make each week feel smooth and manageable.

Tips for a Smooth Quilt-Along
If you are joining us, here are a few simple tips to help you enjoy the process:
- Set aside a small block of time each week so you can stay on pace
- Keep your pieces labeled and grouped by block
- Press as you go to keep your seams crisp and accurate
- Take your time with HST and HRT units, as these shapes help define the design
This quilt is not about rushing to the finish. It is about enjoying each step and watching the story come together.

Sew Together in Community
One of the best parts of a Quilt-Along is sewing alongside others. As you work through each week, I encourage you to share your progress and see what others are creating.
You can follow along and share using:
- #cherrytreelanepanelquilt
- #cherrytreelaneqal
- #sewastory
- #panelquiltqal
It is always so inspiring to see how each quilt takes on its own personality.

A Story You Create
This quilt is a reminder that every project tells a story. From the fabrics you choose to the blocks you sew, each piece becomes part of something meaningful.
I am so excited to sew this quilt together with you and watch your Cherry Tree Lane quilt come to life, one block at a time.
Yours in storytelling creativity,
Jennifer Long
