Desert Daydreams Design of the Month-Finishing Kit

Hi there, all you cool Pins and Needles!  It’s Melisa from Stitchology.  I’m back today to share with you our finishing kit for the 2025/2026 Design of the Month program!  This year’s theme, Desert Daydreams, is inspired by my childhood in New Mexico. For the last year we released a monthly 9″ raw edge applique block kit and now it’s time to sew them all into a quilt!

You can learn more about the program and find a video tutorial on raw edge applique here:

The center of the finishing kit was inspired by this picture I took while visiting the Georgia O’Keeffe house in Abiquiu, New Mexico. This is a fascinating visit in a lovely location so I highly recommend you visit if you ever have the chance.

About the kits:

The quilt finishes at 40-1/2″ square and you have two options for ordering the kits:

1. Finishing Kit :

This is for those of you who have been playing along and collecting the monthly block kits. It includes the pattern and fabrics you need to finish the quilt top as well as binding. It does NOT include: 12 Desert Daydreams Block Kits, backing, batting or the additional 5.5 yards of HeatNBond Light you will need to complete the center block applique.

2. Complete Kit:

This is for those of you who are new to the party (and we are so glad you are here!). It includes EVERYTHING you need to make the quilt top and binding including all 12 Design of the Month blocks. It does NOT include, backing, batting or the additional 5.5 yards of HeatNBond Light you will need to complete the center block applique.

In addition to the kits, you can now pick up any block kits you missed along the way. Supplies are limited and they will not be replenished. You can order them online or pick them u p in store. Here are the 12 blocks to help you get organized!

What’s next?

If you enjoyed this project, we will be starting the next series in June. The new program is in honor of the 100th anniversary of Route 66. It is just 8 months of blocks plus a finishing kit and is centered around the theme Flora and Fauna of Route 66. This will be a lot of fun, and I think will have a different spin to many of the other Route 66 quilts out there. I’m excited to show love to each of the 8 states Route 66 runs through!

Thanks for reading,

Melisa Hart
