I am so excited to invite you to join our upcoming Mary Poppins Storybag Felt Panel Sew-Along, beginning June 3rd!

If you love storytelling, creativity, and projects that encourage imaginative play, this felt panel is such a special one. Inspired by my A Spoonful of Sugar fabric collection for Riley Blake Designs, the Mary Poppins Storybag Felt Panel combines felt dolls, storytelling accessories, and a coordinating playmat that folds into a charming storybook bag.

Whether you are sewing for a child, grandchild, classroom, or simply for the joy of creating, this project is designed to be fun, approachable, and full of opportunities to add your own creative touches.

About the Project

Mary Poppins Storybag Felt Panel includes a collection of felt dolls, characters, animals, and accessories that can be used for storytelling and imaginative play. The coordinating bag unfolds into a detailed play scene and provides storage for all the pieces when playtime is over.

One of my favorite things about felt panels is that you can make them as simple or as detailed as you like. You can cut and sew the pieces for a quick project, or add embellishments such as hand embroidery, sparkle paste, buttons, or sequins to personalize your finished set.

Sew-Along Schedule

We will work through the project together over four weeks, making it easy to enjoy the process one step at a time.

Supplies

To participate, you will need:

One Mary Poppins Storybag Felt Panel
Optional fusible interfacing
White craft felt for backing
Embroidery floss and embellishments
Hand sewing needle and thread
Snaps or Velcro for closure
Small scrap of batting for handles
Basic sewing tools

Why I Love Felt Panels

Felt panels are one of my favorite ways to introduce storytelling through sewing. They come together quickly, encourage creativity, and create opportunities for meaningful play long after the sewing is finished.

The Mary Poppins Storybag Felt Panel is especially fun because it becomes both a toy and a storage bag. Children can open the bag to reveal the play scene, create their own adventures with the characters, and then tuck everything neatly away when they are done.
