Crochet Tulip Bloom Pillow with Chunky Thread
It’s tulip time, and here I am back with a super fun tulip-themed crochet project using Chunky Thread! I had saved this Tulip Bloom Mosaic Square pattern by Trang Lee as an idea for a while, and this was the perfect time to make it.

The pattern shows how to make the square, with a bonus bag pattern, I decided to make 4 squares and join them into a pillow cover. I absolutely love the secondary design when they are joined (getting serious quilt vibes from it) and kept thinking about what a stunning bedspread these would make – but that would be a serious time commitment.
I had never done mosaic crochet before, but I found the pattern very detailed and clear, with step-by-step photos that help a lot. I went slow and did a lot of double checking, especially on the first one.

In Chunky Thread the squares ended up about 9″ in diameter, which was perfect to combine 4 to make an 18″ pillow cover – although I did end up using a 20″ pillow form in the end, to plump it out a little more.

And how dreamy a combo these colors proved to be! I used Blush, Tarragon, and Chamomile…and they were clearly meant to be together. I have to say Tarragon may be my new favorite green!
It was super enjoyable to see the design emerge as I crocheted each square, and I also like how dense the stitching is (since it’s several layers) so it adequately covers the pillow form underneath.

I made a simple button back so that the pillow form could be removed, since with 5 littles around here pillows need regular washing. 🙂

I sewed the 4 squares together, then crocheted the front and back together with one round of single crochet in Chamomile, and 1 round of reverse single crochet in Blush. (Tassels would have looked nice at each corner, but that’s *highly* impractical at the moment with toddlers around, so I opted for a simple finish.)

It makes a charming seasonal addition to my living room, and I love how restful and spring-ish it is! I really want to make more squares in other colors (hello Stonewash, Plum, or red & white!)

That’s it for now! I have a larger project planned for my summer project, so follow along on Instagram if you want to see the sneak peeks.
Happy spring!
