Make It Modern: Converging Paths Quilt in Bold Confetti Cottons + Dapple Dots
There’s something unapologetic about taking a geometric design and turning the volume all the way up with color.
This cover version of the Converging Paths Quilt doesn’t tiptoe into bold… it commits. Bright solids. Strong contrast. A fully pieced center block that radiates movement in every direction.
Instead of using a center panel like the Independence version, more details about that version can be found here. This quilt features the pieced center block, creating structure right at the heart of the design. It’s graphic, modern, and full of energy.
Hey there, Kelly Renay here. When I designed Converging Paths, I wanted it to feel like motion… like intersections, direction, and connection all happening at once. This version leans into that idea with saturated Confetti Cottons and playful Dapple Dots that add just enough texture to keep things interesting.

A Center That Commands Attention
The pieced center block changes everything. Those strong vertical and horizontal bars anchor the quilt, while the surrounding star elements keep your eye moving. It’s balanced but never boring, structured but still playful.
At 42” square, it’s the kind of project you can finish without it taking over your sewing room… but it still makes a statement when it’s done.

Let’s Talk Color (Because We Have To)
This version uses 14 Confetti Cotton solids:
- Rouge
- Super Pink
- Riley Orange
- Cheddar
- Lemon Zest
- Pesto
- Emerald City
- Sea Glass
- Turquoise
- Riley Teal
- Reign
- Riley Dark Purple
- Peacock
- Passion
The warm tones push forward. The cool tones create depth. And the Dapple Dots add that subtle, playful contrast against the strong solids.
If you love sewing with solids, this pattern is such a satisfying playground.

Confident Beginner Friendly
Converging Paths is fat-quarter friendly and designed for confident beginners who are ready to stretch their skills.
You’ll use:
- Half Square Triangles (HSTs)
- The stitch-and-flip method
- Straightforward piecing with bold results
The construction is approachable, but the finished quilt looks far more intricate than the steps required. It’s one of those patterns that builds confidence while you sew, and that’s always my favorite kind.

Bold Paths, Bright Possibilities
What makes this version special is how clearly the “paths” show up when color takes center stage. The intersections feel intentional. The movement feels dynamic. Everything connects.
It’s bright. It’s graphic. And it’s unapologetically fun.
