Nostalgic Quilt Patterns

*Heart Quilts for your Loved Ones*

There’s something undeniably magical about a Minki Kim collection… and this beautiful new release is no exception. In her signature whimsical style, Minki once again draws inspiration from the sweetest seasons of her life: raising her three young daughters.

This collection feels like a gentle tribute to childhood… sticky fingers stained with strawberries, sunny picnics, and kite flying in the park! Delicate prints of fresh strawberries, playful florals and charming coordinates come together in the sweetest storybook colours.

Let’s Make The Little Things Quilt

Serendipity 2 feels like pure joy. It celebrates motherhood, imagination, and the fleeting beauty of childhood- so of course it pairs perfectly with The Little Things Quilt (this entire collection is about celebrating the little things in life that make you smile)!

Cutting Your Fabric

For the Baby Size, you will need:

  • ½ yard for the Hearts (I’ve chosen a solid white).
  • Two colour pairings, with each pairing including one light and one dark fabric.

Here are the combinations I selected:

  • Blue Pairing:
    • Light: Powder Main
    • Dark: Stargazer Strawberries (navy)
  • Pink Pairing:
    • Light: Blush Toss
    • Dark: Orange Flower Bed (pink/red)

Choose fabrics with clear contrast between the light and dark in each pairing to help the design stand out beautifully.

This pattern has many different layout options!

Put it All Together!

Play with your blocks to find a layout you like. I have made this quilt several times, and this is a new layout for me. I like how it turned out!

The Baby Size layout is 4 blocks by 5 blocks for a total of 20 blocks. The quilt measures 36″ x 45″.

I chose the Cream Floral print for the binding because I’m obsessed with ditsy florals!!

This quilt sews up so fast! I made this baby quilt in one afternoon!

Sew a little joy this weekend!

Until next time,

Karlyn (Charlie Bear Quilts)
