Mistletoe and Holly- Gift Box, Bow, and Bunny

Hello Makers! It’s Sara from @SaraBQuilts and I have an exciting and festive collaboration to talk about today! I had the opportunity to work with Riley Blake Designs’s Mistletoe and Holly fabric AND Renaissance Ribbons’s Mistletoe and Holly Ribbon! It was such a fun project to think about how to use fabric and ribbon together to come up with a cute project. If you would like to shop the Mistletoe and Holly ribbon collection, you can find it HERE.

Mistletoe and Holly is the sweetest version of a traditional Christmas fabric collection. The Wreaths in Cloud is my favorite fabric with the baby dear and kitties holding holly. It is the perfect collection to fussy cut and add to your next English paper piecing project! Since I was using fabric and ribbon for this project, I decided to think outside of the box (literally) and make something fun!

My first idea was to make a gift bow using the ribbon and fabric. After looking at how to make them using paper, I set out to make one with the fabric. After some trial and error, I love how my gift bow turned out! I made a tutorial on my IG page that you can find HERE

Once I made the gift bow, I decided to make a gift box to put it on top of. For this box, I made a fabric shell using Plaid in Barn Red that I filled with cardboard so it would stand up without collapsing. I think it would be so fun to make these reusable gift boxes and bows to wrap presents in each year instead of using disposable products!

Finally, I decided I needed to make something to put inside of my gift box! I have been holding onto the bunny pattern by Bon Patterns (you can purchase it HERE) and it was so easy to make. I absolutely love this pattern and can’t wait to make a whole family of bunnies. I used Riley Blake Designs’s Confetti Cotton in Cloud for the body of the bunny and then Mistletoe in Ballerina for the inside of the ears and it turned out darling.

For the dress, I drafted up my own little pattern because I wanted to use ribbon to make the dress sleeve straps and I think it turned out so sweet. I used ribbon at the bottom of the dress skirt to add a nice detail!

I do not think this project could have turned out any sweeter! It was so fun to use the Riley Blake Designs and Renaissance Ribbon Mistletoe and Holly fabric and ribbon together and hope to do it again soon! I cannot wait to see how you use the Mistletoe and Holly and fabric ribbon as well!

Happy Making!
