Bee Backgrounds – The Calming Quilt

Hello quilty friends, its Rachel from Stitch With Rachel.
I absolutely love fun low volume backgrounds fabrics and I have wanted to make an entire quilt from pale fabrics for such a long time. The Lori Holt Bee Backgrounds collection has so many wonderful background prints that are great to add a little bit of interest to your background, but also to make a whole quilt!

I had around 20 differnt prints so I could add plenty of variety to my quilt. I have used the Day Trip quilt pattern by Red Pepper quilts, this pattern can be purchased here. For consistency and contrast I used Confetti Cotton Riley White as the pathway through the blocks.

I created 50 blocks for this quilt and they did come together quickly as there is some strip piecing involved. You do need to stay organised, especially when your blocks look so similar. This pattern is also jelly roll friendly so I will definitely be making this again.

I have used the hexagon print from the collection as the backing fabric and white binding. I opted to quilt this quilt on my domestic machine using a walking foot and a stitch length of 4mm. This added such a lovely texture to the quilt, especially after it was washed.

I am beyond thrilled with how this quilt came out, it will look gorgeous on a bed and will add a nice calming touch to the room. If you would like to see more about this quilt, there will be a feature length video on my YouTube account in the coming weeks – I’d love to chat to you in the comments.

Happy Stitching,
Lots of Love, Rachel xx
