Bee Ginghams Mini Quilt

Hello quilty friends, Its Rachel here from Stitch With Rachel.
I am a huge fan of mini quilts and using them to decorate my home, I recently had the pleasure of working with the Bee Ginghams collection, mixed with some matching Confetti Cottons to create a mini Foundation Paper Pieced (FPP) mini quilt.

When creating mini quilts, you ideally want to work with small scale prints and the bee ginghams are great for this as the ginghams come in a variety of sizes and orientation.
As I started stitching this project, it kept evolving with every day that passed. I purchased a pattern from Cotton Frolic on Etsy, the pattern can be found here. I used the colouring sheet to plan my colour placement and even began stitching but I was really drawn to the corner blocks in this project. Several months ago, I had seen a full size quilt using this block pattern so I decided to just use the corner blocks instead.

In the pattern, the blocks came in several different sizes so I made a couple of each size to help me decide which I preferred. As always, the smaller the better! I just love the charm of smaller blocks, and this project will match the scale of my other mini quilts. The small blocks have a finished size of 1.5″.

I then adapted the pattern to include sashing and corner stones, that was cut at 1″.
And I’ll let you into a little secret.. I didn’t remove the FPP papers! It is highly unlikely that this quilt will ever be washed, so I left them in. This helps your mini quilt to stay crisp and flat, but also saves you a job! When my mini quilts get dusty, I either lint roller them or use the brush attachment on the vacuum.

I added some simple quilting and 2.5″ binding, and it was complete and ready to find the perfect spot in my home.
Mini quilts are a great way to use scraps, play around with design or make a small version of a quilt you have been inspired by.

I hope you have enjoyed this peak inside my latest project. If you would like to see more of my creations, head over to my socials linked below.
