First Blooms HST Quilt

Hey, hey! It’s Sarah of Sarah Jean Makes and I am once again finding myself in a serious case study of Half Square Triangles. I have been working toward building a blog series of classic quilt blocks, and the Half Square Triangle, or HST, is my absolute favorite. When I received the First Blooms collection by Heather Peterson, I fell in love with the sweet florals and bold colors. I knew it would be perfectly showcased in this experimental quilt block study!

I chose to highlight three different sizes (and two different techniques!) for HSTs, including three inch, six inch, and nine inch squares. Given that they are all a multiple of three, they were easy to mix and match to create a stunning quilt!

All prints colors were joined with the vanilla colorway blenders and gave great contrast for the blocks. I brought the warm reds and oranges toward the center, and worked outward to the blues and yellows to create some texture and visual interest. Doesn’t it look like it has some movement?!

This collection of fabrics was so beautiful and is perfect to add a bold flair to any project!

Thanks so much for checking out my recent creation. To follow along with more of my quilty adventures, follow me on Instagram @SarahJeanMakes or check out my website www.sarahjeanmakes.com.
