Stroll Down Cherry Tree Lane with Our Free Quilt Along
Hello friends! This is Jennifer Long from Sew A Story.
There is something magical about a neighborhood filled with charming homes, glowing street lamps, colorful kites, and happy moments shared together. That is exactly the feeling I hoped to capture when I designed the Cherry Tree Lane Panel Quilt using fabrics from my A Spoonful of Sugar collection for Riley Blake Designs.
I am so excited to invite you to join our second edition of this free Quilt Along beginning September 23. Whether you missed the first Quilt Along or simply want to sew it again, this is the perfect opportunity to stitch alongside our wonderful community as we create this story-filled quilt together.

A Quilt That Tells a Story
The Cherry Tree Lane Panel Quilt finishes at approximately 70 1/2″ x 90″ and combines a beautiful illustrated center panel with pieced blocks that surround the neighborhood scene. Throughout the quilt you will create charming houses, elegant street lamps, playful kites, and a colorful hot air balloon that all come together to frame the panel and bring the story to life.
Each section builds on the last, making this a fun and rewarding project to watch grow week after week.

Join the Free Four Week Quilt Along
Our second edition Quilt Along begins September 23 and will run over four weeks. Together we will work through the quilt step by step, making it easy to enjoy the process without feeling overwhelmed.
Our weekly journey will include:
- Week 1: Getting Ready and Preparation
- Week 2: House Blocks
- Week 3: Street Lamps, Balloon, and Kite Blocks
- Week 4: Quilt Assembly, Borders, and Finishing
Whether this is your first panel quilt or you simply enjoy sewing with friends, I hope you’ll join us.

Three Tips Before You Begin
1. Take Time to Prepare Your Panel
Before making your first cut, center your panel carefully so your finished neighborhood becomes the beautiful focal point of the quilt. The pattern also includes instructions for adding coping strips if needed.
2. Label Your Pieces
There are several different blocks throughout the quilt, so taking a few extra minutes to label your fabrics and cut pieces will make sewing each week’s assignments much more enjoyable.
3. Enjoy Learning New Techniques
This quilt introduces techniques like Half Square Triangles (HSTs), Half Rectangle Triangles (HRTs), and Stitch-and-Flip construction, making it a wonderful project for building confidence while creating something beautiful. Helpful templates and downloads are also included to guide you along the way.

Sew Along With Friends
One of my favorite parts of every Quilt Along is seeing everyone’s progress. Every maker chooses different fabrics, quilting designs, and finishing touches, making each Cherry Tree Lane Quilt beautifully unique while still sharing the same story.
I hope you’ll gather your supplies, settle into your sewing space, and join us beginning September 23 as we stitch our way through Cherry Tree Lane together.
I cannot wait to see your beautiful quilts come to life.
Yours in storytelling creativity,
Jennifer Long
