American Independence Quilt | A Patriotic Block of the Month Project
2026 is the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and here at Riley Blake Designs we are celebrating with our Independence Collection and our accompanying American Independence Block of the Month Quilt!
To bring quilters together in a meaningful way, we’ve designed a BOM quilt that beautifully showcases our Independence collection. Perfect for quilt guilds, sewing groups, or personal reflection, this project is a wonderful way to honor the past, celebrate the present, and create a treasured heirloom for future generations.
The American Independence Block of the Month Quilt Kit includes pattern and fabric for quilt top and binding. Backing not included. Fabric featured is Independence by the RBD Designers. I am finishing my Independence Quilt kit a bit late. I have the blocks on my design wall and was surprised to see the background stars on the center eagle panel are not as bright as the white stars in the background fabric. It is noticeably dimmer. Rather than request/buy a new panel without guarantee that it will match the background of the quilt I an framing the centerpiece with the gold rope pattern that surrounded the panel. Pray I do the math correctly to retain the 19.5″ square. It’s my first BOM challenge. Learned a lot utilizing the YouTube videos and appreciate the extra fabric for my bad cuts! Thank you.

My apologies for blvd. I see on the Blog quilt that the center panel has a darker blue hue with lighter stars. That part I am not fond of because it puts a darker ock on center, despite the eagle. Learned quite a bit making the blocks.
