Rockin’ on the Front Porch

Happy New Year, fibre friends! It’s Shereece Nicole of Sew Hooked on Treasures and I’m so happy to be back with you this year.

The beginning of the year can be so many things to all of us when it comes to our creativity – creative break, catch up on unfinished projects, clean our creative space to prepare for the year, start with simple to ease back into things, etc. For those of you wanting to start simple, I have two great patterns for you – Wonderline and Interwonder. I also call them the wonder twins.

I used this fabulous Front Porch line by Jill Finley of Jillily Studio for Riley Black Designs. Her color palate is a favorite combination of mine so I was immediately drawn to it. These are just the prints I chose, but you should definitely check out the complete collection!

Yellow wasn’t in the line’s color palate. However, I think it compliments the collection just perfectly. You could also choose an orange or yellow-orange since those shades are analogous with the reds/pinks and greens. The Confetti Cotton Quilty Color Wheel is super helpful in identifying alternative coordinating colors.

The patterns make for a great size throw and also come with instructions to make matching pillow covers. You can easily get at least one pillow with the fabric remaining from creating the throw. To make it an envelope pillow, you’re going to want to check out this post! You get a free guide to make any size block into a pillow cover and some tips for success.

If you don’t want the pillow covers, there are other options for the remaining fabric. In a previous tutorial, I show you two ways to utilize the triangles created from sew and flip to make the HSTs (half square triangles). The options of how to use those HSTs are almost endless. Some save them to create a future larger scrappy quilt.

Don’t forget to get your copies of Wonderline and Interwonder. Please be sure to share your creations with me on Instagram, Facebook or by email. You can also reach out in those places or in the comments below with questions.

Stitch on me hearties, 🩷
