Chunky Thread by Lori Holt – Granny Square Cardigan
An adventure with the classic granny square!

Hello everyone! I am Eugenia and am here to share with you my granny square cardigan that I had the absolute pleasure to make with Lori Holt’s 100% cotton Chunky Thread! While it isn’t my first crochet project, it was my first cotton project as well as my first garment item so this made for an exceptionally exciting and fun opportunity!
The pattern I chose to use is by MJ’s Off the Hook Designs and it called for 92 granny squares and they looked very cute on my Lori Holt Blocking Board. I loved the fun coral color it came in and found the grid on it to be very helpful with making sure my squares were blocked to the exact size they needed to be.

For my cardigan I used “Nutmeg” as my base color which is a beautiful brown that I felt would pair best with pink, my favorite color! Along with “Nutmeg” the other colors were “Peony”, “Peacock”, “Sweet Mint” and “Honey’. I found all these colors to be very cheery and that’s what I wanted, a nice cheery cardigan I could look at that would just make me smile while I wore it!

I have been a fan of Lori Holt’s fabric lines and I just knew that I would also love her yarn colors! I found that crocheting with cotton gives such a fabulous stitch definition in comparison to other materials I have crocheted with. It will be a very comfortable cardigan to wear in warmer temperatures as cotton is perfect for breathability.

After I completed the ribbing for the cardigan and the pattern itself I decided to add some ribbing to create cinched cuffs as a final touch to make it to my liking. I enjoyed the overall softness of the cotton and just thoroughly enjoyed working with such pretty colors! I’m super grateful and thankful to have been given the opportunity to work with such lovely yarn and to now own a cardigan that I can cherish for years to come!

Here are some images of myself wearing the cardigan. You can find me on Instagram @patchworkfox if you’d like to see my other crafty makes!
