Copacetic Flowers for Fiona

Hey, hey! It’s Sarah of Sarah Jean Makes and I am beyond thrilled to share with you my most recent creation using the Copacetic collection by Julia Frazier of Bayhill Studio. I was instantly drawn to the bright colors, bold shapes, and retro vibe of this collection. As soon as I saw it, I knew exactly what I wanted to do!

Let me share a little background about me first before I share my ideas for this collection. I’m a mother of two kiddos, 8 and 4, and my spouse and I recently bought a new home for our family here in San Francisco. This city has always been where we wanted live, grow, and to put down roots for our family. Given how the current economy is, we knew it would be tough. However, we found a gorgeous spot with plenty of space for our kiddos to grow. I have big dreams of creating the *perfect* bedrooms for my kids, rooms they would find magical and fun. We are planning on painting their rooms full of bright colors and cool murals this summer (don’t mind the millennial gray on the walls right now!), and I hope to make decorations to fill the space. There’s no better way to express your love than to make something for someone, so when I saw these Copacetic fabrics I just knew they’d be part of the vision for my daughter Fiona’s bedroom.

Bold and punchy are the themes for her, full of whimsy and wonder as well. I wanted to create a bunting that can hang above her bed and I love how these prints just bring so much joy into the space.

I also had a wild vision to create some big retro style flower pillows for her bed. They’re very reminiscent of the 90’s groovy vibes I had in my room as a kid, and bringing them to life was so fun. I self drafted big petal shapes, sewed them all together, stuffed them full of poly-fil and stitched on big fabric buttons to give it that scrunch. I just love how they came together! The perfect accent for a little girl’s room.

Given that her room will be predominately pink, I tossed the blue pillow on our living room chair and I was quite surprised how much I loved how it worked in the space! I guess I’ll be filling our whole home with bright flower pillows!

I had a blast working with this collection. If you’d like to see more of what I do at Sarah Jean Makes, check out my website www.SarahJeanMakes.com or follow me on Instagram at SarahJeanMakes to keep up with all things quilty!
