Layers of Charm Quilt Showcasing Bee Vintage by Lori Holt

What do you think about vintage fabrics? I’ll be honest, up until a few weeks ago, I would have turned my nose to any vintage fabric. They just weren’t my style. But then I saw the Bee Vintage collection by Lori Holt and I was sucked into the vintage world!

The first thing that grabbed my attention was the color palette. The softness of the muted blue in the Bee Vintage Sylvia Cloud and the muted purple in the Bee Vintage Hazel Taffy are nicely balanced with the vibrancy of the red in the Bee Vintage Carol Red and the deep blue in the Bee Vintage Lula Denim. After grabbing my attention with the colors the collection continued to pull me in with the amazing amount of details in each print!

From the ever so tiny diamond with an oval and an X in the center in Bee Vintage Edith Cloud to the delicate petals of the flowers in Bee Vintage Mae Daisy, no amount of detail was left out of this collection. The more you look at each print, the more details you notice!

I was spellbound from the very beginning! I knew I had to make a quilt with the collection, but what pattern should I choose? So many beautiful patterns came to mind, some with extremely detailed and intricate piecing. But with such a detailed fabric collection as this, I knew the pattern needed to be something “simple” to really allow the prints themselves to shine! Cue the Layers of Charm quilt pattern from the Fat Quarter Shop!

This pattern is made up of 36 large 10″ squares that are snowballed with a 5″ square in one corner of each 10″ square. Set to form a diamond in the center of each four block unit, this diamond in a square quilt pattern is eye catching! And the best part about this quilt pattern? It’s completely FREE!! And if you’re anything like me, I’m more of a visual learner. So, I put together a video tutorial for the Layers of Charm quilt. And guess what? It’s also, completely FREE!! To keep things easy, you can order the Fat Quarter Bundle from the Fat Quarter Shop and it includes the ENTIRE Bee Vintage fabric collection! One you have your bundle and the free pattern, check out my video tutorial to whip up your very own Layers of Charm quilt with the Bee Vintage collection by Lori Holt for Riley Blake Designs!
