Cretaceous – Dino Roar Quilt

Hello! It’s Laura from Slice of Pi Quilts hopping over here onto the Riley Blake Designs blog to share a fun dinosaur quilt!

This Dino Roar quilt is made with the new Cretaceous collection designed by Amanda Niederhauser. Two years ago, I made this same quilt in a different fabric collection, and I love how changing the fabrics changes the look of the quilt! (You can jump over and see that post HERE!)

The Cretaceous collection is a great mix of blues, browns, and greens, with some fantastic dinosaur prints! I used the Jungle Dinos print in Navy for the border, and the Pterodactyl Clouds for the background fabric. The other fabrics in the fat quarter bundle became the dinosaurs and prairie points!

This baby size was such a fun quilt to make! I free-motion quilted it with a meander stitch so I could do around the dinosaurs. I lifted up the prairie points and quilted under them, which left the triangles in the border as a 3-D element for a baby to play with.
