Call them. Text them. Honk you car horn outside their doors, just gather up your friends and hop down the highway!

It’s time for the Albuquerque area Shop Hop. The 2026 event is celebrating the 100th anniversary of Route 66. A natural fit since that famous roadway takes travelers through Albuquerque.

We have six stores in the metro area planning to enchant quilters with postcard worthy artistic glimpses of what they think of when they think of Route 66. As we like to paraphrase it , Get your kits on Route 66! And get prepared to sew a panoramic road trip.

We’ve included traditional piecing, raw edge applique, and paper piecing to provide quilters a variety of methods.

Pick up a block kit at each store or download the patterns.

The stores will have blocks kits and each has designed a unique quilt using all the blocks. Collect all six individual block kits and a finishing quilt kit to combine them all in one fabulous piece. You have three days to visit all the stores and see how the Albuquerque sewing scene is happily rolling along.

Get your passport stamped at every store and you will be entered to win one of several raffle prizes. Prizes include a $50 gift card bundle to each of the 6 stores, a $250 gift basket from one of the stores (six stores means 6 chances to win!) and additional gift cards. Some shops have individual raffle prizes in store during the event.
