Virginia Rose Quilt

Sara Fernandez of Rose Hill Quilts created the dreamiest quilt using the Virginia Rose collection, and we are so excited to share it with you today! This beautiful design is featured in the latest issue of Today’s Quilter Magazine and perfectly captures the soft, romantic feel of the collection with a fresh take on a classic quilt block.

Inspired by the traditional Ocean’s Wave block, Sara’s quilt is made up of hundreds of half-square triangles that come together in a beautifully satisfying rhythm. The result is a quilt that feels timeless and elegant while still being approachable and relaxing to piece together.

As Sara shared in the magazine:

“This quilt is a design inspired by the traditional Ocean’s Wave block. It is the kind of project that feels both easy and mindful to piece, with hundreds of half-square triangles coming together in a really satisfying rhythm. I made this version with Virginia Rose by Riley Blake, and the mix of delicate florals, soft vintage details, and fresh romantic prints felt like the perfect match for this pattern.”

The Virginia Rose collection by Katherine Lenius brings so much softness and charm to the design, especially paired with the Confetti Cottons™️ solid in Shell for the background. The delicate florals and vintage-inspired prints create the perfect springtime palette, while the Dapple Dot backing in Tickle Pink adds such a sweet finishing touch.

Sara also added gorgeous longarm quilting using the Lovely Flowers pantograph, which complements the romantic floral feel of the quilt so beautifully. The quilting was stitched with Pink Rose Glide thread provided by Fil Tec, giving the project an extra polished finish.

We absolutely love seeing how makers bring Riley Blake Designs fabrics to life, and Sara’s version is full of thoughtful details and timeless beauty. Be sure to check out the latest issue of Today’s Quilter Magazine to see more of this stunning quilt and all the details behind the design!
