Silver Shores – Jewel Box Quilt
Hello Quilty Friends, Its Rachel here from Stitch With Rachel. I wanted to share my first full batik quilt with you, and let me just say.. I’m converted!
The new collection titled Silver Shores has a range of frosty blues and silver tones, perfect for getting alot of colour variation within one colour family.

I always enjoy creating quilts that have a scrappy feel to them and the varying tones of the batiks were perfect for this.
I used the Jewel Box quilt pattern, the free pattern and video tutorial by Donna Jordan can be found here. The pattern was really straight forward to follow and you could easily make it bigger or smaller.

The fabric itself was wonderful to work with, because of the tight weave of batiks, there was little to no fraying and it was very easy to piece together. There isn’t a wrong side to the fabric either so no need to worry about putting your pieces the right way up.
This will certainly not be my last batik quilt – I don’t know why I waited so long to use them!

I hope you feel inspired to try batiks in the future!
Happy Stitching,
Love Rachel xx
