Sew the Elfin Meadow Hat: A Whimsical Winter Make for the Holidays
Hello friends! This is Jennifer Long from Sew A Story. December is such a wonderful time to sew, especially when a project adds a little magic and imagination to the season. The Elfin Meadow Hat is just that kind of make.
With its tall curved shape, stitched-on leaves, and cozy fit, this hat is perfect for storytelling, dress-up, or simply adding a handmade touch to your holiday photos. It is one of those projects that feels playful from the very first stitch.

A Handmade Hat with Holiday Spirit
The Elfin Meadow Hat is made entirely from fabric and fusible interfacing, with a leaf crown that circles the brim and a gentle swirl at the top. Whether you use bright reds and greens or stick with natural earth tones, it is easy to imagine this hat belonging to one of Santa’s helpers or a winter woodland elf.
This pattern was designed using prints from my Thimbelina collection for Riley Blake Designs. The fabrics include soft florals, dotted textures, and whimsical stitching lines that work beautifully for this curved, leafy design.
Sew one as a costume, gift, or just for fun. It is a lighthearted project that adds joy wherever it goes.
