American Jane Pindots- School Days Pencil Pouch
HI Makers! It’s Sara from @SaraBQuilts with the perfect back to school project for you to make! I cannot believe how fast the summer flew by, but I am excited for cooler weather and cuddling up under my quilts. The American Jane Pindots by Sandy Koop (American Jane) and Riley Blake Designs are the perfect fabrics for those of us who shy away from solids, but still want something basic!

The pindots are so tiny and sweet, adding the perfect bit of interest to these beautiful fabric colors. As someone who loves to do appliqué and design appliqué shapes and patterns, these are well suited to those projects! I will definitely be adding the American Jane Pindots to my stash!

For this back to school project, I chose to make the School Days Pencil Pouch pattern by Bailey Wilson Collins of @Copperandcitrus. You can find the pattern HERE. This pattern is so quick and easy and fun to customize! I decided to add appliqué to mine based on what I thought my children’s teachers would like.

The American Jane Pindots have a fabulous color range, but I especially love the purples and pinks! Some of the pindots are white and some are black, which is wonderful for creating interest and a darker appearance.

For my first pouch, I used the American Jane Pindot in Yellow which reminded me of a traditional pencil yellow. I used Cherry for the apple and Lime for the leaf. The Pindot in Pink made the perfect eraser for this pencil pouch, and with a few extra Riley Blake Confetti Cottons, I had the perfect palette for this project! I chose to embroider the stem since it was small, and I love how this pencil turned out!

For my second pouch, I used the American Jane Pindot in Lilac as my main pencil pouch color. The Purple Pindot with the black pindots made the colored pencil “lead” and the White on White made the most delicate white flower petals!

For my third pouch, the American Jane Pindot in Sky was the perfect background color for my rainbow applique using Cherry, Yellow, Lime, and Marine. Marine made up the lead color and White on White was the perfect color for the clouds.

I really enjoyed playing with the American Jane Pindots and cannot wait to work with them again! I think they would be a great addition to any appliqué or machine pieced project! I am excited to see how you use them in your projects!
Happy making,
Sara @SaraBQuilts
