Tudor Rose EPP Cushion – Simple Pleasures

Hello quilty friends, Rachel here from Stitch with Rachel.
This week I have had the joy of sewing with the brand new fabric line, Simple Pleasures by American Jane. The fabric line combine florals, geometrics, vintage toys and picture scenes that remind us of the simple pleasures of childhood.

I immediately knew that I wanted to fussy cut some of the fabric so after a short rummage through my pattern stash, I found the Tudor Rose Pattern by Lina Patchwork. The pattern can be found here.
The pattern had been sitting in my stash for some time, so it was the perfect opportunity to use it and highlight these beautiful fabrics.

I opted to leave out the quarter circle pieces in the pattern. I knew I wanted those pieces to be a pale colour and I was going to applique the design onto a pale fabric, so I skipped that step… and avoided curved piecing! Win Win!

I then appliqued the motif onto my background fabric, which is American Jane Pindot. I opted to use the blanket stitch on my machine as I find this adds a vintage feel to any project. Several borders were added to make the cushion slightly bigger and frame the design.

I added some hand quilting detail around the edge with perle 8 cotton thread.

I really enjoyed stitching this project, I always find cushions are such a fulfilling make and very rewarding to see them placed around your home.

Lots of quilting love,
Rachel xx
