Two Small Projects with Classic Christmas
There’s something magical about sewing for the holiday season, especially when the fabric itself evokes so much nostalgia and charm. The new Classic Christmas collection by J. Wecker Frisch does exactly that. With its vintage-inspired prints, nostalgic typography, and old-world Santa illustrations, this line is a must-have for anyone looking to infuse their holiday makes with timeless charm.
Hey there it’s Kelly Renay here! I’m so excited to share a couple of festive projects I’ve been working on using this gorgeous fabric line.
I had the joy of working with these beautiful prints and wanted to share two projects that show off just how delightful this, Classic Christmas, collection can be in smaller makes. Both projects use patterns by the super talented Aneela Hoey, whose designs are always a great mix of practical and stylish.
Project 1: Flip Pocket Folio
Pattern: Flip Pocket Folio by Aneela Hoey
This clever little folio is perfect for organizing notions, tools, or even Christmas gift tags. I used a mix of the Classic Christmas prints featuring antique-style Christmas trees, bold blacks, and sweet holiday motifs.
The transparent pockets and layered construction give you a great way to showcase the fabric inside and out. It’s a fun, functional project that makes a fabulous organizer for gift tags, ribbons, or even a little self-treat during the hectic holiday rush!

Project 2: Inside-Outside Pouch
Pattern: Inside-Outside Pouch by Aneela Hoey
If you haven’t tried this pouch pattern yet, you’re in for a treat. With clear vinyl front pockets and a roomy zippered interior, it’s the ultimate organizer. The Classic Christmas fabrics bring such a timeless, festive feel to the project. I especially loved using the illustrated Santa print for the outside, as it feels like a nod to a vintage holiday card.

Both projects come together fairly quickly and are great for confident beginners or seasoned stitchers alike. And because the Classic Christmas collection includes such a variety of prints or color ways, you can easily tailor your fabric choices to suit your personality.
If you’re looking to add a touch of classic holiday style to your handmade gifts or project lineup, I can’t recommend this fabric line enough. Pair it with Aneela Hoey’s clever patterns, and you’ve got yourself a match made in handmade holiday heaven.
Happy sewing—and happy holidays!
