The Highland Cow Wall Quilt is a charming piece of art, featuring the iconic image of a Highland cow. After sourcing the Highland Cow Quilt Block Pattern by Burlap and Blossom Patterns, I slightly altered the quilt block to add a little additional flair.

Gracey’s, Burlap and Blossom Patterns owner and designer, Highland Cow Quilt Block Pattern is wonderfully detailed with easy to follow instructions. And offers several size options. I decided to make the 18 inch block. That I added a border to for a finished size of 24 inches.

To add my own spin on the Highland Cow Quilt Block Pattern. I slightly altered the pattern by adding eyes, and changing the width of the horns. Before starting to alter to Highland Cow Quilt Block Pattern, I read through the pattern to familiarize myself with the construction. Then, I drew out how I wanted to alter the block in order to modify the piece sizes and any assembly methods.

In addition to the slight alterations, you might consider adding appliqué flowers to the Highland Cow as an accent. This simple addition is quite effective in elevating the overall design to add a bit of sweetness to your quilt.
