Stitch the Faye Doll: A Meaningful Project to Begin the New Year
Hello friends! This is Jennifer Long from Sew A Story. A fresh start often brings the desire to create with purpose. If you’re looking for a project to ease into January with joy and intention, the Faye Doll might be just the thing.
Faye is made entirely in the hoop using your embroidery machine and comes together with thoughtful details from head to toe. She’s a soft doll you can personalize, gift, or keep as part of your growing handmade collection.

Gentle Details That Bring Faye to Life
The Faye Doll comes in three sizes: 14″, 16″, and 18″. Her design includes softly shaped arms, pointed ears, and a layered skirt that adds movement and charm. Her floral headband and long hair offer opportunities to customize her look with color and texture.
Everything is stitched in the hoop, including her body, skirt, and accessories. The pattern includes full-color diagrams and clear step-by-step instructions for each size. You’ll finish with a small amount of hand sewing to bring it all together.
This project is a relaxing way to enjoy the process of embroidery while creating something you’ll be proud to share or display.

Fabric & Materials
The Faye Doll is made with prints from my Thimbelina fabric collection for Riley Blake Designs. The mix of florals, tonal textures, and soft colors bring a quiet charm to the finished piece.
Fabric requirements include:
- C120-SHELL Confetti Cotton for the body
- Assorted prints from the Thimbelina collection for the skirt and top
- Felt, fleece, or minky for hair
- Elastic, fiberfill, and embroidery thread
- Tear-away and cut-away stabilizers
The pattern includes all sizing and placement details for 5×7, 6×10, and 8×12 hoops.

A Calming Project to Start the Season
The Faye Doll is the kind of project that invites you to take your time. Whether you’re easing back into sewing after the holidays or starting your creative year with something personal, this doll is a thoughtful place to begin.
I can’t wait to see what you create.
Yours in crafting together,
Jennifer Long
