Make it Modern – Look Up Pattern

Have you ever spotted a pattern and instantly thought, “I need to make this next”? That was me the moment I saw the Look Up Pattern by Christine of Tessellate Textiles. It was love at first sight.

Hi! I’m Vickeidy of Sewspicious. I’m a quilter, maker, and pattern designer who loves sharing my creativity with this wonderful community. Today, I’m excited to chat about the tessellating quilt pattern I recently made, plus give you a look at the finished quilt, the fabrics I used, and where you can find the pattern. Let’s get started.

The Fabric Pull

From the moment I started pulling solid fabrics for this project, I knew exactly the direction I wanted to go. I chose a gender neutral palette of soft mint greens, light gray, and sandy tones, with a bright yellow added for a cheerful pop of contrast. Since the pattern uses every color as either a featured or accent fabric without a true background, I wanted a gentle, cohesive mix of soft shades with just one vibrant color to bring the design to life.

For this quilt, I chose the following Confetti Cotton Solids: Misty, Songbird, Sesame, and Cement. The pop of color, is Raindrops Beehive from Fran Gulick’s Essence Collection.

The Pattern

The pattern I used is the Look Up Quilt Pattern by Christine of Tessellate Textiles. The Look Up Quilt Pattern is a tessellating design, meaning the shapes fit together. Its repeating geometric blocks create a seamless, interlocking pattern that draws the eye across the quilt, giving it a cohesive and mesmerizing flow.

The original design makes a throw-sized quilt that finishes at 67.5″ x 67.5″. I created a baby-sized version of the quilt by using fewer blocks than the original pattern.

I’m a big fan of stripy bindings, so for this quilt I chose the 1/8″ Stripe in Honey on Ivory from the Stripes collection.

The result is an adorable baby quilt, perfect for cozy snuggles.

Thank you!
