Welcoming Baby Home with the Warm Heart Quilt Pattern

There’s something especially sweet about sewing a quilt to welcome a new little one, and the Warm Heart Quilt Pattern, a series of soft, nesting hearts, feels like the perfect hug. This simple but meaningful design lets each heart layer wrap gently around the next, creating a cozy symbol of the love waiting for baby at home. Quilt measures 50″ x 50″.

Select your favourite prints!

For this version, I reached for Echo Park’s nostalgic Winnie the Pooh line, a collection that feels like it stepped straight out of my childhood storybook. The gentle, low-volume print I chose for the background features the 100 Aker Woods and other iconic landmarks in Pooh’s world. The tiny sketches and textures will have you tracing the steps to Owl’s House and Pooh’s trap for the Heffalumps! Subtle motifs inspired by the Bee Tree add just the right touch of whimsy, without overpowering the soft, welcoming palette.

Once I’ve chosen the five prints needed for this pattern, I lay them out in the order they’ll appear in the quilt to make sure there is enough contrast. I’ve added the sweet little plaid print for binding to tie it all together. (Plaid is my go-to favourite for binding!)

Fabric Requirements

  • Fabric A: Cream Main (1/4 yd.)
  • Fabric B: Sunshine Bees (1/2 yd.)
  • Fabric C: Brown Characters 1 1/3 yds.)
  • Fabric D: Cream Map (1 1/2 yds.) *I’ve added a little more yardage to account for the directional print.
  • Binding: Multi Plaid (1/2 yd.)

Start at Heart Center

The magic of this quilt is in its simplicity. Each heart floats inside the next, letting the fabrics shine. The centre heart gives you a chance to highlight those famous quotes from Pooh and Eeyore, while the larger hearts create a comforting frame around them. Whether you choose warm neutrals, classic Pooh yellows, or a sprinkle of vintage florals from the collection, the effect is timeless.

Continue adding each layer around the center heart until you’ve created all three nesting hearts.

Since the quilt finishes at 50″ x 50″, when you are creating your borders you will have to use a diagonal seam to piece the strips together (as you would with binding so you have a strip long enough).

And the best part about this pattern, is it comes with a FREEBIE tooth fairy pillow pattern! You will have enough fabric left-over to make one!

This bundle gives you everything for the perfect nursery gift: a cozy quilt pattern plus the adorable coordinating tooth fairy pillow pattern.
