Fast & Modern Flying Geese Quilt for Any Season
Hello, Friends! It’s Sandy from Thai Charm here. Lately, I’ve been drawn to fabrics that tell a story and spark a sense of movement. The Genesis of A Journey collection by Genesis Hall does just that, telling a story of exploration and connection. Inspired by her family’s travels, each print reflects textures, landscapes, and memories stitched together like a patchwork of experiences. That sense of movement pairs beautifully with the In the Wind Quilt, where flying geese and large blocks echo the idea of journey and direction.

The In the Wind Quilt uses simple piecing and large blocks, so it comes together quickly without losing its visual impact. It’s the kind of project that looks impressive but stays easy and approachable, even if you only have a weekend to sew.

In the Wind Quilt with Genesis of the Journey
For this version, I mixed three different background fabrics instead of one. The slight variation adds depth and texture while keeping the design soft and cohesive. Then I brought in ten fat quarters from Genesis of A Journey for the accent fabrics. The combination gives the quilt warmth, character, and a beautiful sense of movement that fits the theme of the collection perfectly.

What I love most about this pattern is its versatility. You can keep it calm and neutral for a timeless look or go bold with colorful prints for a cheerful, modern vibe. It’s a wonderful project to gift, whether you’re sewing for the holidays or simply creating something from the heart. Add your favorite backing and a bit of cozy quilting, and you’ll have a handmade piece that brings warmth all year long.

If you’re ready to make your own In the Wind Quilt, gather favorite background fabrics and ten fat quarters from the Genesis of A Journey collection by Riley Blake Designs. The pattern comes together quickly, making it a fun and approachable project for any skill level.
