Celtic Cats for Miri

Hey, hey! It’s Sarah of Sarah Jean Makes and I am excited to share the absolute kismet moment I had with the first collection coming from Brigid Ashwood called Celtic Cats. This collection is full of kitten whimsy and Celtic art which feels so fun and fresh in the fabric world.

My home recently adopted a new kitten from our local SPCA shelter and we could not be any more in love. Her name at the shelter was MaryAnn, but my kiddos pronounced it “Mirian.” When trying to think of a new name for this kitten, we decided “Miri” fit her well.

I received this fabric in the mail right around the time we brought Miri home and it felt like the purrrrfect opportunity to make something new for her! This collection is full of bold colors and fun shapes, so I decided to patchwork together a giant panel of squares. I ended up cutting triangular pieces from the big quilted panel and improvised a bin using foam stabilizer. I bound the inside with standard binding and fashioned an entry hole at the front for Miri to climb into. The whole kitten home is soft and flexible, perfect for her to jump on and roll around in.

I decided to craft some catnip plushies with scraps from the project for her as well. She has been LOVING them! Simple shapes were the way to go, and I think they came out so cute.

Thank you so much for checking out my recent creation. I love how this collection fit so well with my new kitten at home. If you’d like to follow along with more of my work, please check me out at www.sarahjeanmakes.com or follow me on Instagram @SarahJeanMakes.
