Blitzen Booties- Designer Flannel
Hello fellow creatives! Luci here from Sea Garden Sewing, writing to share my first foray into flannel! When the latest installment of Designer Flannels came out, I was immediately drawn to Dani Mogstad’s Winter Magic flannels. Look at how cute they are!

For this project, I ultimately chose the outer two prints (Navy Snowflakes and Blue Winter Animals) to make a pair of Blitzen Booties designed by Peekaboo Pattern Shop. From newborn to adult sizing, you could make a pair for the whole family!

I chose to line my flannel booties with black fleece to maximize the coziness factor.

To begin, I sewed the front piece and linings right side together and topstitched with some thicker cotton thread.

Then, I did the same with the outer back piece.

After this, I sewed the outer back piece to the sole as shown above. Next I clipped and sewed the front piece on, which overlapped with the back piece by a little over a half inch. Once this was sewn on, I sewed the sole lining above the entire piece, leaving a 2-3″ gap for turning out.

Here’s what the bootie looked like prior to adding the snap:

Next, I got out my KAMsnaps and added a snap to the strap with my handheld press. I put the bootie on my foot to locate where to put the second snap to make the best fit.

Here’s what the Blitzen Booties look like once completed!

These Blitzen Booties turned out so cozy and I can’t wait to wear them around as the weather turns. Riley Blake flannel is seriously soft and of great quality!
