Stitch the Eve Doll: A Nature Inspired Embroidery Project

Hello friends! This is Jennifer Long from Sew A Story. As a doll and quilt pattern designer, I’m always inspired by the way fabric can help us bring characters to life. Today I want to introduce you to the Eve Doll, a charming, nature inspired project made with my  Created With Love fabric collection for Riley Blake Designs.

The Eve Doll is a soft, stitched from scratch doll made entirely in the hoop with your embroidery machine. Designed for storytelling, imaginative play, or even seasonal decorating, this pattern gives you the chance to slow down, practice your embroidery skills, and create something with heart.

The pattern includes three stitchable sizes: 14″, 16″, and 18″, and works with 5×7, 6×10, or 8×12 hoops depending on the doll size you choose.

What Makes the Eve Doll Special

This project combines embroidery and traditional sewing in a way that’s approachable and rewarding. The Eve Doll features soft appliqué details, a stitched on leafy romper, and optional yarn ponytails that give her so much personality. She is playful, peaceful, and full of charm.

Her dress is made using C15975-GRASS from the  Created With Love collection, and her body is stitched in C120-SHELL Confetti Cotton. You can personalize the hair color, skin tone, and accessories using your favorite non fraying fabrics like wool, felt, or fleece.

According to the fabric chart on page 5 of the pattern, here’s what you’ll need for one doll:

  • C15975-GRASS – Dress and undergarments (fat eighth to 1/3 yard depending on size)
  • Wool, felt, or minky – Hair (fat eighth to fat quarter)
  • C120-SHELL – Body (1/4 to 1/2 yard depending on size)

The thoughtful motifs in the fabric help reinforce the storytelling potential of this character. Eve feels at home in the garden, nestled in tree branches, or surrounded by florals. She invites children into a slower world where handmade toys and imagination still shine.

A Project Worth Slowing Down For

Like many of my patterns, the Eve Doll is designed to be made with care. Every step, from turning the limbs to threading the elastic into the neckline, gives you a moment to pause and enjoy the process of crafting something from start to finish.

This is a project that teaches patience and offers joy, both in the making and in the giving. Whether you’re gifting Eve to a child or keeping her for your own collection, she is a reminder that handmade is always meaningful.

I can’t wait to see what you create.
Yours in crafting together,
Jennifer Long
