Welcome to The Quilters Studio in Fairfax, VA. Walking through the front door is like stepping into a kaleidoscope of color — every corner of the 4,500-square-foot shop is packed with fabric, notions, and beautiful quilted projects designed to spark creativity and open your eyes to what this craft has to offer.

Founded in 2012 by architect-turned-art quilter Kathye Gillette, the shop reflects her love of discovering the “special touch” that transforms both spaces and stitches into something extraordinary. That sensibility lives on in The Quilters Studio today: a vibrant creative hub known for its unmatched, carefully chosen collection of fabrics and specialty supplies for quilting, home dec sewing, embroidery (machine and hand), punch needle, slow stitching and more.

But what truly sets the shop apart is its people. Customers often share that they come for the fabric but stay for the warmth, expertise, and encouragement of the staff. The classroom buzzes with activity every week — from beginner and advanced classes that give new makers confidence, to specialty workshops taught by community instructors that introduce seasoned quilters to new techniques. On Tuesdays and every 4^th Saturday of the month, Open Sew sessions turn the classroom into a lively studio where friendships are stitched together alongside projects.

The Quilters Studio also serves as a drop-off point for community initiatives like Project Linus and Ryan’s Cases for Smiles and they donate fabric to local area non-profit organizations and guilds each year, reflecting the shop’s commitment to sharing comfort and creativity with others.
