Sunflower Whispers Panel Quilt

The Sunflower Whispers collection by Lisa Audit is a dreamy, sweet line of fabric that combines some of my favorite features – watercolor and soft, warm colors. This collection will certainly add charm to any project.

In addition to the beautiful prints, the collection also includes a panel of cute watercolor painted birds sitting atop sunflowers.
If you’ve ever wondered what to make with a panel besides pillows and tote bags, I’m right there with you! The blocks in this panel are so sweet, I wanted a way to showcase them together as opposed to smaller projects. Luckily, Riley Blake Designs offers tons of free great patterns, including panel quilts, on their website and I found the perfect one just for me. It’s the Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Panel Quilt that was designed with the Twinkle Little Star collection by Natalia Juan Abello.

There were a few of key elements of this quilt design that I drew me to it.
- The blocks in the quilt were the same size as the blocks in the panel, so I didn’t have to adjust the pattern to fit the size of the blocks in the pattern
- The panel contains 4 blocks and this pattern uses all of them
- The center of the star blocks allowed me to fussy cut my favorite little bird prints
- The star blocks uses 3 colors for the points and chain blocks, and this was a great way to highlight the Sunflower Whisper Fern prints in yellow, pumpkin, and green. And to complete the quilt, I used the blush fern print as the border

In case you’re wondering, I used Riley Blake’s Confetti Cottons Ballerina for the background of the star blocks and Confetti Cottons Sage for the inner border.
I’m excited to hang and display this quilt once it’s quilted and bound. Do you have ideas on how to quilt it? I’d love to hear your suggestions.
Happy quilting!
