Essence Sawtooth Stars Quilt

Hey, hey! It’s Sarah of Sarah Jean Makes and I had the opportunity to dive deep into my favorite type of quilting fabric – BLENDERS! The Essence collection by Fran Gulick of Cotton and Joy is everything that I love about quilting. It’s full of geometric designs, tiny graphic motifs, sweet stardust, and so many electric colors. I love how this collection brings such energy and vibrancy into the quiltiverse!

I’ve been working on building out basic block tutorials on my website and as soon as I saw this collection, I knew it had to be used in a quilting favorite, the Sawtooth Star. This quilt uses 12 inch blocks in a 6 x 6 grid to make one stunning finish. I paired fabrics together that were contrasting in color and different in print and I made two blocks with one fabric as the star and the other as the background. I also switched the pairings to make the inverse. All in all, it created a dynamic burst of color and contrast. Isn’t it glorious?!

The Sawtooth Star tutorial will be live on my website by the end of August 2025. In the meantime, go take a look at the other basic block tutorials I have available at www.sarahjeanmakes.com/blog.

Thank you for following along with my recent creation. I hope you love it as much as I do! If you’d like to keep up with what I’m working on, follow me on Instagram @SarahJeanMakes. Until next time! Quilting by Coastside Quilt Studio using the Moon Cycles panto by Mistletoe Quilting Co.
