Make the Whale Zipper Pouch with Created With Love Fabric

This is Jennifer Long from Sew A Story.  I’m a doll and quilt pattern designer and a proud fabric designer for Riley Blake Designs. Today I’m excited to share one of my favorite playful projects made with my Created With Love fabric collection.

Let me introduce you to the Whale Zipper Pouch.  A functional and fun make that’s perfect for gifting, storing small treasures, or adding a handmade touch to a child’s room or travel bag.

This pattern is part of the Sew A Story Pattern Club and includes everything you need to create a soft-sculpted pouch with personality: step-by-step instructions, templates, and optional embroidery details. It’s a creative project that builds your sewing skills and results in something you’ll be proud to show off or give away.

The Whale Zipper Pouch finishes at approximately 8″ × 4″ × 2″ and features a secure zipper top, detailed tail and fins, and an optional grommet for adding a wrist strap. It’s sewn using traditional techniques and is recommended for an intermediate skill level.

All the fabrics used in this project are from my Created With Love collection for Riley Blake Designs. The thoughtful coordinates give your whale character and charm. You’ll use five different prints from the collection to complete the tail, fins, sides, belly, and back, or have fun mixing and matching your favorites.

Materials needed:

• 5 fat eighths from the Created With Love fabric collection (tail, fins, belly/lining, sides, back)
• Fusible fleece and extra-firm fusible
• One 9″ zipper
• One 1/4″ grommet
• Basic sewing tools and notions
