Decorative Tufted Pillow: Using Botanic Blast by Sew Yeah for a POP of whimsy and charm.
There’s something about the first burst of warm spring colors on those cool days that just makes my heart skip a stitch-and Botanic Blast by Sew Yeah for Riley Blake Designs brought that joy right into my bedroom decor!

I’ve been swooning over these vivid florals for weeks-the pansies, hummingbirds, and lush blooms practically leap off the fabric in hot pinks, juicy purples, and splashy turquoise. So I knew exactly what I wanted to do: turn a little square of sunshine into a tufted pillow that would brighten up my bed set.

If you’re looking to infuse your home decor with a burst of vibrant color, creating a tufted decorative pillow using the Botanic Blast fabric collection by Sew Yeah Quilting for Riley Blake Designs is an excellent choice. This collection features bold floral patterns in vivid hues like hot pink, turquoise, and purple, making it perfect for adding a lively touch to any room in your home.
The Vision: Bloom Meets Texture
I wanted something bold yet cozy, playful but polished-something that made my neutral decor sing with color. Why not – let’s add a tufted accent pillow! That single button in the center gives the whole thing a plush, vintage charm, while the fabric does all the talking.
The Botanic Blast print I chose features all the vibrancy of greens, blues, purple and splashes of red with hummingbirds for the added charm. This collection is truly a garden party in fabric form. I paired it with a classic large brown button for the tuft. Simple. Chic. And absolutely joyful.
My Process (stitches & smiles)
Because, y’all once again, I had to play around with it. Here’s how I made it happen..I think;)-
- Cut the fabric to a generous 21″ x 21″ squared. (You know me-I love a big pop of color!) You will need two 21″ x 21″ squares.
- Stitch around the edges…right sides together.
- Turn it inside out, and stuff it your favorite fluffy insert, and hand stitch the opening close.
- Now for the tuft, I threaded a long, strong needle straight through the center and pulled tight around the button for that plush pinch in the middle. It was the chef’s kiss finish!

Why I Love It…
This pillow is more than just a pop of color-it’s a little piece joy at the end of each day. It adds texture, color, and a handmade touch that makes may bed feel extra special. And let’s be honest, the florals just make me smile.
Wether you’re looking to refresh your space for the season or want a quick project to show off your favorite prints, I highly recommend giving tufted pillows a try.

Ready to Bloom?
If you’ve got a fat quarter, a fun button, and a free afternoon, you’re halfway there. And if you’re using Botanic Blast-trust me-you’re in for something stunning!
Every stitch is a petal, a prayer, and a pop of joy.
